New Golden Gate Area Council (GGAC)
The newly formed Golden Gate Area Council (GGAC) starts June 1, 2020. It is the merger of Alameda, Mt. Diablo Silverado and San Francisco Bay Area Councils. Look for email details on the big online kick off on June 1 at 7:00 p.m. and please join us!
John C. Fenoglio Selected as Scout Executive of Golden Gate Area Council
Please join us in congratulating John C. Fenoglio who will serve as the Scout Executive of the newly formed Golden Gate Area Council in Pleasant Hill, CA, effective June 1, 2020.
John began his Scouting career in 1987 as a District Executive at the Crossroads of America Council in Indianapolis, IN. He moved on to become the Director of Programs at the Indianhead Council, St. Paul, MN. John continued his career as Director of Field Services, in Mid-Iowa Council in Des Moines, IA and then was selected to serve as Scout Executive at the Anthony Wayne Area Council in Fort Wayne, IN. He most recently served as Scout Executive of the Mt. Diablo Silverado Council, Pleasant Hill, CA.
John is an Eagle Scout, Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow and Rotarian, who enjoys golf, traveling, and fishing. John and his wife Stephanie, have three children, Charlie (Eagle Scout), Lydia and Elena.
Please join us in congratulating John as he joins in partnership with the volunteers and staff of the Golden Gate Area Council to deliver quality Scouting experiences to the young people of the communities they serve.

On behalf of the Alameda, Mt. Diablo Silverado and San Francisco Bay Area Councils, we have the results of the merger vote:
30 Ballots were cast by Alameda Council: 18 For / 12 Against
120 Ballots were cast by Mt. Diablo Silverado Council: 106 For / 14 Against
75 Ballots were cast by San Francisco Bay Area Council: 74 For / 1 Against
The Golden Gate Area Council Board will begin in May to set a new course for Scouting!

Town Hall Meetings – Merger Update
The in-person Town Hall meeting originally scheduled for Tuesday night (March 24, 2020) has been rescheduled as a Zoom Meeting. In fact, we are scheduling two Zoom Meetings – March 31 and April 2, both meetings start at 7:00 pm. This is a great opportunity for you to ask questions about any concerns you have about this merger.
